The Laburnum Arch is Out!

Writer: Jilly McNaughtonJilly McNaughton

The laburnum arch at Bridge End Garden has come into flower in the Wilderness and is a stunning sight even on dreary days. The Wilderness is rather shady so it always flowers later than other laburnums in the Garden.

Sometimes called the Golden Rain tree, it is a native of central and southern Europe and has been cultivated in England since 1560.

For wheelchair and pushchair users the only access to the laburnum arch is via the Wilderness entrance.  We are sorry to report that due to vandalism, this entrance has had to be closed but you can get a bit of a view through the railings.  Next year, we promise it will be open!
